The house appears towards the street as a simple gable mass, its proportions are reminiscent of houses with porches. The pillarless porch hides the garage door and leads to the entrance. The floor plan gradually expands as it moves inward, the house opens to the garden on its entire surface.

A ház az utca felé egyszerű, nyeregtetős tömegként jelenik meg, arányai a hagyományos tornácos házakra emllékeztetnek. Az oszlopok nélküli tornác elrejti a garázsajtót és a bejárathoz vezet. Az alaprajz fokozatosan nyílik fel a kert irányába.

Zur Strasse hin erscheint das Haus als schlichtes Giebeldachhaus, seine Proportionen erinnern an traditionelle Häuser in die Umgebung. Die säulenlose Veranda verbirgt das Garagentor und führt zum Eingang. Der Grundriss weitet sich nach innen hin allmählich aus, das Haus öffnet sich auf seiner gesamten Breite zum Garten hin.

The design of the primary school incorporates local materials, hand-crafted structures, passive ventilation and a rainwater harvesting system to keep construction costs and future maintenance costs low. The bricks were handcrafted by volunteers and made on site. The interior elements and parts of the facade are made of bamboo harvested from the nearby forest. The raised roof acts as a solar chimney, providing natural air movement through heating from the sun. The school was built in five stages during the school holidays with volunteers and was already in use in its shell state in the meantime.

Az általános iskola tervezésekor az az építési költségek és a jövőbeni karbantartási költségek alacsonnyan tartása volt a fő cél, ezért helyi anyagok, kézzel készített szerkezetek, passzív szellőző- és esővíz-elvezető rendszer került beépítésre. A téglákat önkéntesek készítették a helyszínen, kézzel. A lépcsőkorlátok és az udvari homlokzat a közeli erdőből szüretelt bambuszból készült. Az átszelőztetett tető napkollektoros kéményként működik, a napsütés erősségével arányos természetes légmozgást biztosítva. Az iskola öt ütemben épült fel az iskolai szünetekben önkéntesekkel, és időközben már szerkezetkész állapotban is használatban volt.

Der Entwurf der Primarschuile umfasst lokale Materialien, handgefertigte Strukturen, eine passive Lüftung und eine Regenwassernutzungsanlage, um Baukosten und zukünftige Instandhaltungskosten niedrig zu halten. Die Ziegel wurden von Freiwilligen handgefertigt und vor Ort hergestellt. Die Innenelemente und Teile der Fassade bestehen aus Bambus, der aus dem nahegelegenen Wald geerntet wurde. Das erhöhte Dach fungiert als Solarkamin und sorgt durch die Erwärmung durch die Sonne für eine natürliche Luftbewegung. Die Schule wurde in fünf Etappen während der Schulferien mit ehrenamtlichen Helfern aufgebaut und während der Zwischenzeit im Rohbauzustand bereits genutzt.

The former schoolhouse of the small village with its historic main facade has been already empty for ten years. The building is now being renovated and converted into a residential building and gallery. In order to minimize dismantling and thus construction waste, the supporting structure remains unchanged. On the outside, only the rear facade is touched where a new balcony will be installed.

A kis falu műemléki védettségű főhamlokzató egykori iskolája már tíz éve üresen áll. Az épület most teljes felújításra kerül, lakóház és galéria lesz belőle. A bontás és ezáltal az építési hulladék minimalizálása érdekében a tartószerkezet változatlan marad. Kívülről csak a hátsó homlokzat alakul át, ahol egy új erkély kerül beépítésre.

Das ehemalige Schulhaus des kleinen dorfes mit denkmalgeschützter Hauptfassade steht seit zehn Jahre leer. Nun wird das Gebäude saniert und als Wohnhaus und Galerie umgenutzt. Um die Rückbau und damit die Bauschutt zu minimieren, bleibt die Tragstruktur unverändert. Aussen verändert sich nur die hintere Fassade wo ein Balkon wird eingebaut.

The building complex of the art workshop is linked to a walkway which is connecting the green areas around the stream's bank in south Zebegény. The building plot today is wedged into the settlement pattern as a foreign substance, the river separates it on the west side and a retaining wall on the east. The plan is intended to resolve this existing tension by creating physical and spiritual connection between the village and the development area.

The complex of the art centre is organised around around three gardens, each with different qualities. A central garden is placed between the accomodations and the community building, which is facing the stream and connected to the street via an open-air exhibition space. South of the accomodation building is an event space for camping, parking or festivals as needed. The workshops are placed in the third building with a terrace that links the central garden to a quiet garden and also provides place for a furnace with sitting area around. The workshop building and the main building enclose a paved courtyard with the possibility of screening. The houses are connected to each other and their surrounding with a pergola-porch system which functions as traffic area, exhibition space, chilling areas or provide shadow. The foundations of a long ago demolished and abandoned house can be found on the building plot by Árpád street, filled with vegetation and surrounded by trees. A pergola structure marks the possible original building volume and functions as an open exhibition space and creates connection with the street, leading visitors through the bridge into the courtyards inside.

The main building and the accomodations are made of (impregnated) rammed earth,  from  the suitable soil found around the stream. The porches, the sunshades and the workshop building are made of local wood.


Zebegény déli patakparti zöldterületeit összekötő sétányhoz kapcsolódik a képzőművészeti alkotóház épületegyüttese. Az építési terület jelenleg idegen testként ékelődik a település évszázadok során kialakult szövetébe, attól nyugat felől a patak, kelet felől egy támfal választja el. Ezt a fennálló feszültséget hivatott az épület feloldani, a terület és a falu között fizikai és szellemi kapcsolatot teremtve.

A tömeg egy kertet jelöl ki, amely szoros kapcsolatban áll a körülvevő többi zöldfelülettel, így az alkotóház együttese három különböző minőségű kert köré rendeződik. A szállások és a közösségi épület között található a központi kert, amely a patakra néz és az utcafronthoz az ott elhelyezkedő szabadtéri kiállítón keresztül kapcsolódik. A szállásépülettől délre a fogadó- és rendezvénytéren igény szerint sátrazásra, parkolásra és fesztiválozásra nyílik lehetőség. A központi kerthez kapcsolódó harmadik épülettömegben kaptak helyet a műtermek, ennek teraszán keresztül csatlakozik a központi kert a csendes kerthez. Itt található egy körülülhető kemence és egy vetítésre is alkalmas udvar. A házak pergóla-tornácrendszerrel kapcsolódnak egymáshoz és a környezethez, melyek hol közlekedők, hol kiállítási, hol leülési lehetőséget nyújtanak, hol pedig árnyékolást adnak. Az Árpád út felőli telekrészen egy több évtizede alapjáig visszabontott ház jelenleg növényekkel beültetett és lombos fákkal körbevett maradványai találhatók. Az eredeti épület egy lehetséges, pergólából visszaépített tömege nyitott kiállítótérként közvetlen kapcsolatot teremt az utcával és a hídon át továbbvezeti a látogatókat a belső udvarokra.

A nagyterem épülete és a szállásépület a patak környezetében található agyagos talajból nyert impregnált földbetonból készül. Helyi faanyagból készül a tornácok, árnyékolók és a műterem épületének szerkezete valamint burkolata.

Zebegény Art Centre

Der Gebäudekomplex der Kunstwerkstatt ist mit einem Gehweg verbunden, der die Grünflächen rund um das Bachufer im Süden von Zebegény verbindet. Das heutige Baugrundstück ist als Fremdkörper in das Siedlungsgefüge eingezwängt, der Fluss trennt es auf der Westseite und eine Stützmauer auf der Ostseite. Der Plan soll diese bestehenden Spannungen lösen, indem eine physische und spirituelle Verbindung zwischen dem Dorf und dem Entwicklungsgebiet geschaffen wird.

Der Komplex des Kunstzentrums ist um drei Gärten mit jeweils unterschiedlichen Qualitäten organisiert. Zwischen den Unterkünften und dem Gemeinschaftsgebäude liegt ein zentraler Garten, der zum Bach hin ausgerichtet und über einen Freiluft-Ausstellungsraum mit der Strasse verbunden ist. Südlich des Unterkunftsgebäudes befindet sich je nach Bedarf ein Veranstaltungsraum für Camping, Parken oder Festivals. Die Werkstätten befinden sich im dritten Gebäude mit einer Terrasse, die den zentralen Garten mit einem ruhigen Garten verbindet und auch Platz für einen Ofen mit Sitzecke bietet. Das Werkstattgebäude und das Hauptgebäude umschliessen einen gepflasterten Innenhof mit Sichtschutzmöglichkeit. Die Häuser sind untereinander und mit ihrer Umgebung durch ein Pergola-Veranda-System verbunden, das als Verkehrsfläche, Ausstellungsraum, Ruhebereich oder Schatten spendet. Auf dem Baugrundstück an der Árpád-Strasse befinden sich die Fundamente eines vor langer Zeit abgerissenen und verlassenen Hauses, voller Vegetation und umgeben von Bäumen. Die Pergolastruktur markiert das ursprüngliche Gebäudevolumen und fungiert als offener Ausstellungsraum und stellt eine Verbindung zur Strasse her und führt die Besucher über die Brücke in die Innenhöfe.

Das Hauptgebäude und die Unterkünfte bestehen aus imprägniertem Stampflehm aus dem geeigneten Boden rund um den Bach. Die Veranden, die Sonnenschirme und das Werkstattgebäude sind aus heimischem Holz gefertigt.

The aim of the project is to create a multifunctional building specifically for the female community, supporting their fight against inequalities. The Women's House will host multidisciplinary activities designed to education, to promote women's empowerment, to eliminate forms of violence and abuse. The community centre provides space for formal and informal meetings, celebrations, workshops and organising information campaigns but also everyday activites such as agricultural processing (eg millet milling, fish drying, shea butter preparation), and a producer’s market.
On the hot climate of Senegal, covered, semi-open spaces are valuable and most of the daytime activities happen there. Therefore the round patio, a central open courtyard is significant element ot the local vernacular architecture and often serves as the primary living space. If the roof slopes towards this patio, a small protected garden supplied by rainwater can also be placed there (impluvium). The design of the community centre concentrates on these transitional areas. The central multifunctional hall divides the enclosed plot into two separate courtyards. The one connected to the street is the public courtyard (01), open for visitors and offers space for public events, such as market days, celebrations, performances of traditional art, festivities or just spontaneous gatherings. The private courtyard (02) is reserved for the activities of the women’s community and accessible via the connecting corridor between the administration office (06) and the main hall (05), allowing the staff to control the access.
The main hall can act as a fully closed-up room or with all the double doors open a transitional space as an extension of of one of the courtyards or to create a connection between them. According to its usage the space can be used as a whole or divided along the structural column using local textiles so the space can be adopted to the actual activities.

Home for a cambodian family for only 2000 usd. The layout is based on the redefinition of the traditional space usage, respecting the traditions and meeting themrequirements of today. Bamboo structure with manualmtechnology and local craftsmanship. Bamboo is the most affordable local building material (freelymcollectable for home consumption). Natural ventilation
system (based on traditional khmer buildings) makes themhouse liveable even in the hottest times and a dual chambermpassive processing compost toilet solves the pressingm problem of hygieny.

Traditional khmer houses were objects for social distinction. Certain dwelling types were reserved for a specfic class in Khmer society. For example house keung was used by high-ranking individuals, kantaing is associated with migrants originating from China. However for today
these buildings changed their owners many times and their social role is not important anymore. The common in these houses is the solution for natural ventilation either by simple openings or by 'umbrellaeffect' (the roof shields the house against direct heat radiation, whilst the continuous opening between the roof and the top of the walls allows a constant flow of air in and out, which prevents an accumulation of warm air beneath the roof). The ploor plan of a traditional khmer home is based on the strict separation of two main units by a north-south oriented partitional wall. The eastern part is the public (also referred as exterior) and the western
unit is the private (interior). These main parts are subdivided into sectors by various (mobile) partitioning elements, such as woven mats, furniture which blocks the field of
vision, or simply curtains stretched between the columns. The division of the public and private units is made by using different wall materials. The public unit is open, bordered only with bamboo poles with some gap in between. This part is used during the day when natural
ventilation is important. The private parts are closed with continous wall and floor, providing more intimacy and insulation during the nights when temperature can drop even under 22°c. The toilet is placed in the southwestern corner of the house where the prevailing wind direction (from northeast) most effectively helps to remove any undesirable smell.

One lot, four families, eighteen cars. The purpose of the competition was to create living space for four different families and storage for a collection of oldtimer cars, all on one single plot. With the narrow buildings and the comb-style layout a system of public and private areas is created while the original terrain was kept. The garage is deeply under the ground yet has garden connection and natural light. 
The street is on the higher side of the lot and full of characterless hungaro-mediterranean villas. Therefore the building does not want to take any certain form or style, rather formed by analogies from our everyday life or memories. They are four playfully carved stones or freshwater fish.

The existing building with a wooden facade was built in 1995 and offers space for a bus garage and the local motor vehicle control office. The new part of the building includes additional office space, a rest area for bus drivers, technical rooms for charging infrastructure and brush washing as well as covered parking spaces for 6 buses. The structure of the existing wooden facade was adopted and expanded.

A meglévő fahomlokzatú épület 1995-ben épült, és egy buszgarázsnak valamint a helyi gépjármű vizsgaállomásnak biztosít helyet. Az új épületrészben további irodahelyiségek, buszsofőrök pihenőhelye, töltő-infrastruktúra és buszmosó gépészeti helyiségei, valamint 6 autóbusz fedett parkolója található. Az új épületrész a meglévő fa homlokzat struktúráját viszi tovább.

Das Bestandsgebäude mit Holzfassade wurde in 1995 gebaut und bietet Platz für eine Busgarage und das örtliche Strassenverkehrsamt. Der neue Gebäudeteil beinhaltet weitere Büroräumlichkeiten, Ruheräune für die Busfahrer, Technikräume für Ladeinfrastruktur und Bürstenwäsche sowie gedeckter Parkplätze für 6 Linienbusse. Die Struktur der bestehenden Holzfassade wurde übernommen und erweitert.

Production hall and office space with full-surface solar facade. The warehouse and production - accessible by trucks - is located on the ground floor and office space, a cafeteria with a hot kitchen, a fitness room and an inner courtyard on the upper floor. The majority of the required energy is produced on the facade surface.

Gyártócsarnok és irodaépület, a homlokzat teljes felületén napelemekkel. A földszinten a kamionokkal is átjárható raktár és gyártósor, az emeleten irodahelyiség, melegkonyhás kávézó, fitneszterem és egy csendes belső udvar található. Az energiaszükséglet nagy része a homlokzati felületen keletkezik.

Neubau Produktionshalle und Büroräume mit vollflächiger Solarfassade. Im Erdgeschoss befindet sich die mit LKW befahrbare Lager- und Produktionshalle, darüber ein weiteres Geschoss mit Büroräumlichkeiten, Cafateria mit Warme Küche, Fitnessraum und einem Innenhof. Der Grossteil des Energiebedarfs wird auf der Fassadenfläche produziert.

The "House of Hope" in Bamako is a joint project of the Close to Africa and Sini Sanuman foundations, its aim is to provide shelter and education to girls fleeing violence and child marriages and to women struggling with the complications of female genital mutilation (FGM). In addition, those excisors who "put down the knife", i.e. stop mutilating, can learn a new profession at the women's center. On the narrow, elongated lot, two, somewhat
a contradictory function - shelter and community space - had to be placed. On the ground floor of the planned building, there are two classrooms, a doctor's room and a "cyber cafe", a photocopying room offering public services. Offices are located on the more protected upper floor and the girl's dorm arranged towards the inner courtyard. The external contour of the building follows the trapezoidal plot boundary, the rooms are oriented towards the two inner courtyards.

Das „House of Hope“ in Bamako ist ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt der Stiftungen Close to Africa und Sini Sanuman. Ziel ist es, Mädchen, die vor Gewalt und Kinderehen fliehen, sowie Frauen, die mit den Komplikationen weiblicher Genitalverstümmelung (FGM) zu kämpfen haben, Schutz und Bildung zu bieten. Darüber hinaus sind diejenigen Scheren, die „das Messer weglegen“, d.h. Wer aufhört zu verstümmeln, kann im Frauenzentrum einen neuen Beruf erlernen. Auf dem schmalen, langgestreckten Grundstück soll zwei, etwas  widersprüchliche Funktionen – Schutz und Gemeinschaftsraum – platziert werden. Im Erdgeschoss des geplanten Gebäudes befinden sich zwei Klassenzimmer, ein Arztzimmer und ein „Cyber-Café“, ein Kopierraum mit öffentlichen Dienstleistungen. Die Büros befinden sich im geschützteren Obergeschoss und das Mädchenwohnheim ist zum Innenhof hin angeordnet. Die Aussenkontur des Gebäudes folgt der trapezförmigen Grundstücksgrenze, die Räume orientieren sich zu den beiden Innenhöfen.

A bamakói "Remény Háza" a Közel Afrikához és a Sini Sanuman alapítványok közös projektje, célja az erőszak és a gyermekházasságok elől menekülő lányoknak és a nemiszerv-csonkítás (FGM) komplikációival küzdő nőknek menedéket valamint oktatást biztosítani. Ezenfelül, azok az excizorok, akik “leteszik a kést”, vagyis felhagynak a csonkítás tevékenységével a nőközpontban új szakmát tanulhatnak. A szűk, nyúlványos telken két, némileg
ellentmondásos funkciót - menedék és közösségi tér - kellett elhelyezni. A tervezett épület földszintjén két tanterem, orvosi szoba valamint egy "cyber cafe", egy nyilvános szolgáltatásokat nyujtó fénymásolószalon kapott helyet, a védettebb emeleti részen irodák és a belső udvarra rendezve a hálóterem. Az épület külső kontúrja a trapéz alakú telekhatárt követi, a helyiségek a két belső udvar felé vannak tájolva.
